What happens on the day

Before you get there [Read more...]

Not only will your child have spent most of the morning traveling to the Arena but they will also have been in their seats from approximately 2.30p.m, working hard on their songs and associated “moves”. The minute they get to their seats we ask them to make themselves comfy and we give them a quick run through of what they can expect and all the safety issues for the day. Then the work begins…

Warm-up, introductions and rehearsals [Read more...]

Your child and their choir will have the opportunity to warm-up the vocal chords with the assistance of our Principal Conductor David Lawrence. This is where the fun (and hard work) starts. They go straight in to rehearsals after the warm-up and finish at 5.00pm.

Working together [Read more...]

There will be between 5,000 and 8,000 children in your child’s choir; depending on which venue they are attending. The ONLY way we can pull this off is if they have practiced and learnt their songs and know what they’re doing. If they work together and use all the vocal skills they have practiced over the past few months they are sure to be a part of the BEST Young Voices concert ever. We need you, as parents, to help them do this at home.

Tea break [Read more...]

At 5.00p.m., whilst you are making your way to the Arena, the choir will get a well-earned tea break. They will be able to take an hour to rest and relax (especially their voices). They can bring a packed tea or buy food and drink at the arena food outlets. They WILL NOT be allowed to leave the arena under any circumstances. Our Team and their teachers will be very strict about this.

At the end of a long day [Read more...]

Unfortunately for your child (but maybe not for you!), the experience must come to an end. Once the lights go up please listen carefully to our Team and follow their instructions. For Health & Safety reasons the Arenas ask that we stagger the choirs’ exit from the auditorium, especially because there are so many children involved. We ask that you help us do this properly.

If your child is not going home by coach and is meeting family or friends after the show then remember that you will not will not be allowed to stay inside the auditorium, so please make sure you don’t arrange to meet them there. You will be asked to leave and meet them at your designated meeting point (see their teacher). We advise that this is either in the car parks or at a designated exit of the arena.

For those of you who have a journey ahead of you – don’t forget that from experience they will be singing all the way home… perhaps you may want to pack some ear plugs for the end of the night… just a thought. One good thing is… they will certainly sleep well that night… we guarantee it.
